Accruleaf

Terms of service

Effective October 27, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Symbiotries, Inc. ("Symbiotries", "we", "us") for the use of Accruleaf, our online accounting software at accruleaf.com and app.accruleaf.com (the "Service"). If you use the Service for a business, you agree to these terms on behalf of that business, and "you" includes the business. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy.

1. The Service

Accruleaf helps businesses keep accounting records: invoicing, bills, expenses, bank feeds, reconciliation, payroll records, sales tax and 1099 tracking, and financial reports. We may add, change or remove features over time. If we remove a feature you rely on in a significant way, we'll give reasonable notice where we can.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract to create an account.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your password secure. You're responsible for activity under your account and for the people you invite to your companies, including the roles you give them.
  • Tell us promptly at the contact details below if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
  • Accountants and bookkeepers may create a free accountant login to work in companies that invite them. Accountant access is free; the company that invites the accountant remains responsible for its account.

3. Trials, subscriptions and payment

  • New companies may start with a free trial. When paid plans are available, continued use of a company after its trial requires a subscription at the price shown when you subscribe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until canceled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid aren't refunded except where required by law.
  • If a subscription ends or payment fails, the company's data stays available to view and export, but it may become read-only until the subscription is active again.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before the change applies to you.

4. Your data

  • You own the data you put into the Service. You give us permission to host, copy, process and display it only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and import, and for having the right to provide it, including any information about your employees, customers and vendors.
  • You can export reports at any time. If you close your account, we'll delete your data as described in our Privacy policy.

5. Bank connections (Plaid)

Accruleaf uses Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to gather your data from financial institutions when you choose to connect an account. By using this feature, you grant Symbiotries and Plaid the right, power and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from your financial institution. You agree to your personal and financial information being transferred, stored and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Bank data may be delayed, incomplete or corrected by your bank later; review your bank feeds and reconcile to your statements.

6. Paying bills by ACH and printing checks

  • The Service can create an ACH payment file and print checks for payments you choose. Accruleaf does not send, hold or transfer money. Payments are made only when you, or someone you authorize, submit the file to your bank or issue the check.
  • You're responsible for authorizing each payment, for verifying vendor bank details before paying (including confirming any change in bank details directly with the vendor), for having sufficient funds, and for complying with your bank's agreements and the Nacha Operating Rules.
  • Review each file and each check before you submit it. We're not responsible for payments made to incorrect accounts because of information entered into the Service, or for your bank's handling of a payment.

7. Not tax, legal or payroll advice

The Service is a record-keeping tool. Reports, tax rates, 1099 thresholds and other information in the Service are provided for convenience and may not reflect every rule that applies to you. Accruleaf does not file tax returns, deposit payroll taxes or issue tax forms for you. Check important figures with a qualified accountant or tax professional, and keep the records the law requires.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, to commit fraud, to store or send malicious code, to access accounts or data that aren't yours, to probe or overload our systems, or to resell the Service without our written permission. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or put the Service or other users at risk, with notice where reasonable.

9. Third-party services

The Service works with services we don't control, such as banks, Plaid, email providers and payment processors. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we're not responsible for their availability or actions.

10. Availability and support

We work to keep the Service available and your data backed up, but the Service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. Contact us using the details below for help.

11. Disclaimers

Except as stated in these terms, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don't warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Symbiotries won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from or related to the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Symbiotries against claims by third parties arising from your data, your payments, or your violation of these terms or the law.

14. Ending these terms

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may end these terms or your access if you materially breach them, or if we stop offering the Service, in which case we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your data. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as data ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) survive termination.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify account owners by email or in the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
